The Ginsberg Center advances Our Guiding Principles through ongoing partner engagement that includes:
Listening
Our work starts with community. We utilize the following approaches to understand community priorities & needs:
- Gathering information through one-on-one dialogue with community leaders
- Participating in sector based meetings and other community focused events
- Bringing together our Community Advisory Board
Connecting
As we build our understanding through listening and dialogue, we seek to match community identified priorities to U-M talent, research and expertise across campus by:
- Utilizing a robust management information system during consultations with faculty, staff and students to identify potential projects or opportunities that would be a good fit for all stakeholders
- Sharing our opportunities with our networks across U-M in service to matchmaking
- Supporting the Connect2Community volunteer portal
- Convening community and campus stakeholders around a particular topic or issue area
- Facilitating the Community Technical Assistance Collaborative (CTAC)
Stewarding
As a community engagement center, we serve as an ongoing connection resource for our community partners. We demonstrate our commitment to partners by providing the following support:
- Assistance at the start, middle and end of a campus-community partnership
- Introduction and connections to existing resources on campus
- Community partner newsletter
- Preparation of students and academic partners for respectful and reciprocal engagement
