Ginsberg Center Service Cords

Our goal:

To recognize students at graduation that have -- through direct service, activism and advocacy, or other forms of civic engagement -- helped address or make positive change around a specific social issue in partnership with economically or socially marginalized communities beyond campus.

How to Apply:

For Undergraduate Students

Congratulations on your graduation!

Ginsberg Service Cords for individual students not involved in Ginsberg programs are only available through the Michiganensian Graduation Extravaganza.

The individual service cord nomination and certification period is on a rolling basis from February through early April (for Spring commencement) or October through early December (for Winter commencement). Find the form here.

If you missed the opportunity to purchase cords through the Graduation Extravaganza, check with your School, Department, and any student organizations in which you are involved to see if you are receiving a service cord as part of a bulk submission.

Students involved in a Ginsberg Center program should receive information on getting a service cord from your program at the Ginsberg Center.

Proceeds from the sale of service cords goes toward funding student scholarships and grants.

For Departments, Student Organizations, and Community Organizations

You can either (1) advise students to apply individually for service cords (using the instructions above) or (2) order service cords in bulk using our online form for $5 per cord. This form will remain open through April 28 for Spring '24 commencement.

The Ginsberg Center does not handle distribution to individual students for bulk requests -- you will be responsible for picking up your bulk order at the Ginsberg Center's Michigan League location and distributing cords to individual students.
