Jordan Coury

Master of Social Work Intern

Q:  Tell us about your work with the Ginsberg Center and what you have learned about community engagement so far.

A: As a student consultant on two community projects through the CTAC program, I’ve found it inspiring to see how community organizations positively impact young individuals. Collaborating with our community partners while addressing social justice issues has been an impactful and enlightening learning experience. I've learned that effective communication and flexibility are essential for successful partnerships and that true strength lies in community and relationship building. I’ve loved engaging with our community partners so far and am excited to continue my Ginsberg experience as an MSW intern.

Opeyemi Ojubanire

Community Leadership Fellow

Q: What specific community issues are you passionate about and why?

A: I'm passionate about youth development, education, and creating opportunities for young people to thrive. I believe that all students, regardless of their background, should have access to quality education, mentorship, and extracurricular activities that support their growth.

Through my work with Math Corps and other youth programs, I've seen firsthand how providing students with a supportive learning environment and strong role models can positively impact their confidence and academic success. I'm particularly interested in bridging educational gaps and ensuring that youth have the resources and encouragement they need to reach their full potential.

Justin Wentnick

Community Leadership Fellow

Q: Are there any skills or knowledge you are hoping to gain throughout your time as a Community Leadership Fellow? How will this create a positive impact in your community?

A: Throughout my time as a Community Leadership Fellow, I hope to gain hands-on experience in how non-profit organizations operate and create impact. I aim to understand the dynamics of communicating with community members and working with them to create a solution together. With Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley, I have been implementing a “Home Legacy Program” to help low-income homeowners sign Beneficiary Deeds, helping their heirs avoid Probate Court. This program helps protect the intergenerational wealth generation process and ultimately provides stability for families.
