Over the weekend, the Ginsberg Center's America Reads Tutoring Corps program began another year at its Fall Kick-Off event. This year, we hosted 78 student tutors at the event.

Through this program, the Ginsberg Center is committed to meeting the challenge to have all children reading well and independently by the end of third grade. Our mission is to:

  • Enhance kids' literacy skills.
  • Provide greater access to books to develop a home library.
  • Offer opportunities for kids to read and develop a relationship with a caring young adult.

During the orientation, our new and returning tutors were welcomed and learned more about what their time in the program will entail. The event also featured guest presenter Laura Raynor, a retired AADL librarian, who guided our students through sharing stories with children through the oral tradition with puppets and props. This orientation was a time for our tutors to connect with one another and learn about their shared passions.
