Turn Up Turnout (TUT), a student organization sponsored by the Ginsberg Center, recently broke their in-person event attendance record at their recurring event series Dinners for Democracy. Dinners for Democracy are nonpartisan presentations and small group discussions on topics that are important and relevant to students. TUT broke their attendance record on Jan. 16 during their "How to Be a Good Follower of Local Politics" event, which saw over 30 attendants.

TUT is a nonpartisan, student-led organization that seeks to increase civic engagement among University of Michigan students. They also aim to increase voter education, registration and turnout in presidential, midterm and local elections regardless of political affiliation.

TUT said they want to continue increasing event attendance in the hopes of diversifying the discussions they have with more viewpoints. They are also hoping to connect with more voters and potential voters.

Students are encouraged to sign up for the remaining Dinners for Democracy that TUT will host until the Michigan primary election on Feb. 27. Students are served dinner at these events, which can include pizza and salad, sub sandwiches, soups, Middle Eastern cuisine and more.

Any student with ideas for what they would like to see TUT present next, requests for types of food or questions about Dinners for Democracy can email [email protected].
