Hosting a Community-Engaged Event?
Ginsberg Center invites requests from our community partners, SOAR-recognized student organizations, and U-M schools, departments, and programs for co-sponsorship of community-engaged events and initiatives.
A community-engaged event or initiative is one in which UM affiliates (students, faculty, staff) collaborate with external, non-UM community partners. Examples of community partners include: nonprofit organizations, schools, civic agencies, social service agencies, and grassroots organizations.
What kinds of events and initiatives do we co-sponsor?
Ginsberg Center only co-sponsors events and initiatives that further the Center’s mission. To be eligible, your event/initiative must support one or more of the following mission-aligned goals:
- Responds to or advances a community-defined priority
- Builds the capacity of non-UM communities, through partnerships with UM that advance community-defined priorities
- Helps UM students, faculty and/or staff learn about community priorities directly from non-UM community partners
- Promotes student learning through meaningful civic and community engagement experiences that connect to UM courses, research, and programs
- Promotes student leadership development through meaningful civic and community engagement experiences
Priority consideration is given to events and initiatives that involve direct collaboration between UM affiliates and local social sector (non-UM) partners.
