IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR PROBLEMS.

PARTICIPANT COMMITMENT
Your group will meet throughout the fall and winter semesters to orient and educate yourselves about the issues you will encounter on your site. As ASB participants, you have an obligation to the community you will be living with to come prepared – mentally, physically, and emotionally. Individual sites will work out meeting schedules with their groups. Expect to meet for approximately two to three hours every week during the fall and winter semesters for a combination of community service, fundraising, educational, and social activities. All participants will also be required to come to the ISSUES KICK-OFF prior to your trip and the MULTISITE REFLECTION following the conclusion of ASB.

ALCOHOL POLICY
Alcohol and drug use and possession on any UM-ASB trip is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN due to University policy, liability and legal issues, respect for the members of your group and – most importantly – the individuals and organizations with whom we are working during spring break. If you are found with alcohol or drugs, you will immediately be asked to leave your group and travel home at your own expense. You will also be barred from participating in future ASB trips.

COST
The cost per participant is $125. This non-refundable participant fee is due by the Issues Kick-off in December. This amount helps cover site fees, donations, and general cost for the ASB program. Some out of pocket expenses could also be incurred during the week to cover food and personal expenses. Additionally, each group will be responsible for raising $700 as a site that will be used mainly for housing and transportation costs over break. Fee waivers will be available for those with financial aid through the University as well as limited need-based scholarships.
