Securing Volunteers from the University
There are many ways to connect with potential volunteers at the University. The Ginsberg Center recommends the following:
Have a clearly articulated job description and an idea of which school or college you have an interest working with. Call and e-mail the contact for that school. If you are looking for a few or many undergraduate volunteers, please make sure your opportunity is posted on Volunteer Connection, a place where students actively search for a community based agency with which to work.
We also recommend you send a message with details about the volunteer opportunity - what the student would be doing, time commitment, specific/preferred hours and duration (e.g. one semester) to serve.bulletins@umich.edu. This list serve reaches 1,500 student instantly. The more specific of a request you can make, the higher the likelihood it will be filled.
If your organization is interested in forming a long-term, in-depth partnership, please contact Kemba Mazloomian at saran@umich.edu
