30 Hour Famine (top)
30 Hour Famine is dedicated to promoting tolerance among and aid to all nations in order to treat and prevent hunger all around the world through empowerment and education. It strives to form a peaceable union standing strong against world hunger. Members are expected to attend weekly educational meetings.

826michigan Volunteers are committed to volunteering and outreach for 826michigan, a non profit creative writing center designed to help students aged 6-18 develop their writing skills. 826mi is dedicated to providing students with free access to writing workshops, publishing projects, and one-on-one help with homework and English language learning. All of our programs are designed to be challenging and enjoyable, and to strengthen each student's power to express ideas creatively , effectively, confidently, and in his or her individual voice. 826michigan Volunteers shares the mission of 826michigan and its members are committed to extending the educational resources of the University into southeast Michigan.

This organization was created in order to promote education of African history on campus. This organization strives to promote awareness of the annual Ann Arbor AIDS Walk, which occurs every October. By motivating UM students to walk and raise money for AIDS research and resources in the Ann Arbor community, the organization is able to express the importance of AIDS awareness.

American Geriatric Society Student Chapter (top)
The purpose of the AGS student chapter is to provide community service opportunities for medical students interested in helping the elderly and to expose and educate medical students on issues pertaining to geriatric medicine. Service opportunities within the organization include: Flu shot clinics, where vaccinations are given; Med-shovelers, in which volunteers shovel snow for seniors; and Senior Share in which volunteers work with veterans and seniors with memory loss.

This organization encourages disaster preparedness and prevention, health and safety training, blood collection - helping community members in Washtenaw county live safer, healthier lives. Ann Arbor Reaching Out (top)
Ann Arbor Reaching Out (AARO) is a student-run service organization aimed at community improvement by facilitating efforts to ease the burdens of homeless children and families. It connects students with voluntary service at the local level and provides opportunities to make a difference in the Ann Arbor community. The organization's current activities include: 1) providing volunteers for family/youth communes such as Home of New Vision and the Ronald McDonald House; 2) conducting biannual food & clothing drives; and 3) sponsoring periodic, seasonal projects of varying types such as benefit concerts, charitable fashion shows and soup kitchens.

This organization bases its work on grassroots development issues in India. All social justice issues including: women's empowerment, AIDS awareness, child labor protection, and physical relief and rehabilitation development are incorporated into AIDS projects. The Ann Arbor chapter of this organization holds numerous fundraising and community service events in order to connect this community with progress made in India. Volunteers not only raise funds, but also determine where exactly the funds will be put to use, in India.

This anti-discrimination organization's mission is to overcome the obstacles and walls that are discrimination by means of interactive drama. Volunteers play roles to create realistic atmospheres of intolerance which are evident in our society today. This organization provides students with community service opportunities in many settings, including soup kitchens and nursing homes. The projects deal with issues pertaining to hunger, housing, environment, health and disabilities. The specific projects Circle K is involved with range from mentorship programs to walking dogs for the humane society. This organization typically hosts 15 projects per week.

Doors of Opportunity will give many intelligent and hard-working students the ability to observe a Big 10 university in action. DOP will organize an all day field trip in which underprivileged high school students from the Metro Detroit Area will have the opportunity to tour campus. They will have the opportunity to meet encouraging and helpful campus faculty who will guide them in their search for further education. The high school students from the Metro Detroit Area will realize that attending a competitive University away from home is a possibility, if they choose to make it one.
