Student Engagement Coordinator
Bio

As Student Engagement Coordinator, Riley works closely with students and student organizations to help advise, support, and facilitate impactful, intentional, and ethical community engagement and social change work. Riley oversees the Alternative Breaks Grant, where they advise and support alternative break trips for students across campus. Similarly, they serve as advisor for Michigan Active Citizens - Alternative Spring Break, a Ginsberg-sponsored organization which plans yearly alternative spring break trips which serve both local and national communities in their identified goals.

Riley joined Ginsberg in 2021 after completing their Master’s in Higher Education with a concentration in Diversity and Social Justice at the University of Michigan. They also have Bachelors’ degrees in English and Political Science with a concentration in International and Comparative Politics. Having been passionate about international and cross-cultural education since they were young, an undergraduate study abroad experience in Athens, Greece further cemented Riley’s love for educational experiences that get students out of their comfort zones and facilitate their growth and development. Riley seeks to facilitate such experiences in a manner that supports and centers ethical community-engaged work.

In their free time, Riley loves reading a good book, playing video games and D&D, and doing escape rooms. They’re also obsessed with their cat Noodle, and always looking forward to their next opportunity to travel. Riley’s career and research interests include student activism, supporting trans and non-binary students, and education equity for refugees and displaced people.
