Nicole Springer, Ph.D.

Nicole is the Editor of the Michigan Journal of Community Service Learning, published by the Ginsberg Center. She works with the Editorial Team to oversee the publication of two issus a year focused on community-engaged scholarship. 

She serves as the Senior Director for Professional Development & Scholarship and Chief Equity Officer at Campus Compact, a national coalition of colleges and universities committed to advancing the public purposes of higher education. In her role, she provides leadership for member campuses around tracking and assessing the impact of community-engaged scholarship, strategic implementation of community/civic engagement to foster development of an “engaged institution”, and facilitating a national community of scholars and leaders committed to this work. Before starting at Campus Compact in 2018, Nicole was the associate director for the Center for Community Engaged Learning at Michigan State University. During her time in the field of community-engaged scholarship, she has focused her efforts on practitioner- scholar professional development, curriculum creation, and equity-based assessment/evaluation. In connection with her work in community-engaged scholarship, she has a Ph.D. in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education from Michigan State University.

Nicole enjoys reading for pleasure and working on sewing projects that have been on hold for far too long.
