Bio
Katie Van Zanen is a PhD candidate in English and Education. As a Lead Engaged Learning Graduate Consultant, Katie not only facilitates workshops to prepare students for working effectively with communities, but also helps support our newer facilitators by providing feedback and creating community amongst them. Katie is passionate about creating accessible, equitable, and reflective learning experiences in her work as a consultant and as a graduate student instructor; as a researcher, she is interested in how higher education forms students' civic and political identities. She enjoys hiking, reading, and autumn afternoons with her dog.
